Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology was set up in 1967 and was named after the First Nations individuals who lived nearby. Algonquin was framed from the consolidation of the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology, which was set up in 1957, and the Ontario Vocational Center, set up which was set up in 1965. The College celebrates more than 50 years as a pioneer in post-secondary schooling and has gone through critical development since its foundation and continues developing today.
