Tips to Remember for IELTS Preparation.

The International English Language Testing System, also known as IELTS, is a very popular test. Proving your English proficiency is very important for those who are thinking of studying abroad. Almost all countries and institutions require a working knowledge of English as part of their daily work.

Getting a good score on the English test is critical to your success. Therefore, all efforts should be directed towards improving your English skills. There are some rules for IELTS preparation.

1) The first rule is to speak as much as possible. The more you speak, the better your speaking skills will be. It shows your language skills. Be careful not to exceed the board. Try to speak while the conversation is interesting rather than repeating the same thing just for the sake of speaking.

2) The second rule is to talk more with the examiner. Try to keep the examiner's closed-ended questions open-ended by answering in 2-3 lines or more. This will give you more confidence when speaking in exams.

3) Write down your weaknesses before coming to the exam. Spend time on areas that are difficult to read.

4) Time management is very important during exams. Reading passages improves language skills. The exam has 40 questions, all of which can be answered in one hour.

5) Avoid overwriting. Your main focus should be quality over quantity, and so should your reviewers. Overriding doesn't give you more points, so it's best to avoid it.

6) During the exam, the examiner will check your grammar. Try changing the sentence structure. Simple and compound sentences should be used to get higher band scores.

7) The written test is divided into two tasks. Try doing task 2 as it gives you more points than task 1. Also, finish your essay within 40 minutes so you have time to revise it before final submission. Get in the habit of following the instructions while looking at the examples in the manual.

8) Don't be nervous and go to bed on time the night before the exam. A good night's sleep will help you concentrate on the exam.

9) Don't hesitate to correct yourself if you think you've made a mistake. This will make the examiner look at you differently. He will know your wit and language proficiency.

Some students feel that correcting themselves will alert the examiner, leading to a lower score. Actually, it is the other way around because correcting errors is a good thing. One very important step in the ladder of improving your English language skills is by practicing tools suggested by experts.
